Thoughts From Bali: Cysts, Shamans, and Leeches

Using the Power of Symbols to Heal in Mind, Body, and Spirit

Carl Jung, a Swiss psychologist, used active imagination to help people heal.

He took scenes from dreams and broke them down into symbols. Then he’d use those symbols to invoke visionary states that had a powerful effect on the patient’s psyche.

His work helped the depressed get back to a joyful life. The hysterical to find peace and calm.

Patients came out of psychosis, others were inspired to live more meaningful lives. At times even physical ailments would be healed with treatment.

Like the cyst I just got over. (More on that later.)

“Regarding organic illness (accidents, injuries, etc.) it can be stated with certainty that these things do at least have psychological syndromes. . . so that it looks as though the illness were a psychic arrangement.”

Carl Jung, Letters Vol. 1, Page 429

This demonstrates how the ability to work with the symbols of the mind can affect one’s life far beyond the psychic content of their thoughts or emotions.

That’s why I’m sharing this formula for how to invoke the symbols of your own life.
