The Balance of Good and Evil.
Wanting to be the devil and letting others speak.
I wanted to be the devil today. To be the one that adds a germ of corruption, the notion that there is darkness within us.
I was talking to a friend who is very much about love and light. They’re also very much about conspiracy theories.
At one point they said “I don’t believe humans are evil. I think we’re all good, we just get deceived. The other way, that’s more depressing.”
The other way being that humans are the genesis of evil rather than evil being a supernatural force.
Similarly, secular conspiracies point at cabals of the corrupt and powerful as manipulating human society for hundreds of years rather than look at the pain of human history as individuals carrying on their unconscious conditioning and self-service.
Personally, I feel it’s the latter and make room for the rest. Maybe there are conspiracies afoot; mundane or supernatural. All I know is that people are suffering around me and I want to work on reducing that suffering.
What I find troubling about conspiracies or too much focus on “love and light” is that both turn a blind eye to our Shadow natures and the conspiracies reduce human agency. We feel defeated before we even try to make things…
