I wish people would stop making Jordan Peterson out to be some sort of Guru. Jung’s concept of individuation and integration of the unconscious is that if someone is doing the work they most often won’t be overcome by a neurosis but will instead work with the libido/energy beneath their experience.
Peterson’s gone around pretending to be the father figure for millions, while not able to cope with his own issues.
No one’s perfect but in Jungian psychoanalysis people are supposed to work on their own shit before they work with others.
These neurosis that are unraveling him are also in his “teachings.” They’re not the best source of insight.
That said, you’re point that what we often avoid has the seeds of change within it is a good insight, one that’s repeated in plenty of philosophies (as you point out) and only gets Peterson press due to the decay of our culture’s memory.
